The pony hidden in slavery...

Thanks (or something) to my dad for finding this...

Mrs. Adele Ferguson has some priceless things to say about black people:

The pony hidden in slavery is the fact that it was the ticket to America for black people. I have long urged blacks to consider their presence here as the work of God, who wanted to bring them to this raw, new country and used slavery to achieve it. A harsh life, to be sure, but many immigrants suffered hardships and indignations as indentured servants. Their descendants rose above it. You don’t hear them bemoaning their forebears’ life the way some blacks can’t rise above the fact theirs were slaves."

I like ponies. It's nice to know that there was a pony hidden in slavery.

That is all.

This is a great example of how, while there are all kinds of apologetics, there comes a point where the best defense God has is his impotence, saying, well, it was Man and not God who did that and God didn't interfere because he never does. But pray to him, as he may start at any moment. It is just not possible to accept that God is overseeing a rape or an enslavement or a genocide, saying, "Yeah, that really is a shame. Wish there was something I could do," and then looks over at a football game and say, "Okay, I'll let him have this touchdown so long as he thanks and gives the glory to me."

you guys are all crazy. it should be clear in every case of the oft-evidenced recourse to power, nonconsent and extraordinary feelings metaphorically manifest through magical or dictatorial powers that there is all kinds of, or wait a minute. i thought she was talking about the porn in slavery. never mind.
